Bezienswaardigheden / tips Callela de Palafrugell 2026:

1) Callela de Palafrugell: Callela de Palafrugell is oorspronkelijk een oud vissersdorp dat zijn traditionele karakter heeft behouden. In tegenstelling tot veel nadere badplaatsen is het niet sterk vercommercialiseerd, met weinig grote hotels en massatoerisme. Het dorp staat bekend om zijn witte huizen, smalle straatjes direct aan zee en kleine baaien en stranden met helder water. Het heeft ook een gezellige boulevard met bogen (Port Bo), vroeger gebruikt door vissers. Callela de Palafrugell is een echt pittoresk en authentiek kustdorp . Hoewel het in de zomer druk kan zijn, trekt het vooral mensen die een rustigere, authentieke vakantiebestemming zoeken.

2) Port Bo (oude visserswijk): Port Bo is het meest karakteristieke en fotogenieke deel van Calella de Palafrugell, waar geschiedenis, zee en gezelligheid samenkomen op één plek. Het is er klein, heeft een sfeervol strand en pleintje aan zee waar vroeger vissers hun boten aanmeerden en hun netten repareerden. Tegenwoordig is het een gezellige plek met restaurants, terrassen en een heel authentieke uitstraling.

3) Punta dels Burricaires: Punta dels Burricaires is een rotsachtige landtong langs de kust en is bekend om zijn mooie vergezichten over de Middelandse Zee en ruige natuur. Het ligt langs de Camí de Ronda en is vooral een plek om te genieten van het landschap. Deze plek is ideaal om mooie foto's en films te maken. 

4) Camí de Ronda: De Camí de Ronda is een netwerk van wandelpaden langs de ruige kustlijn van Catalonië. In de regio rond Calella is het pad vooral populair omdat het direct langs kliffn, stranden en baaien loopt. Je ziet ook telkens nieuwe uitzichten op de Middelandse Zee en kleine verborgen stradjes die normaal gesproken minder bereikbaar zijn. Het mooiste en meest gelopen deel loopt tussen Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc en verder richting Tamariu. Tip: draag goede wandelschoenen en geen slippers, neem water mee en eventueel zwemkleding zodat je spontaan in een mooie baai kunt duiken.

5) Jardins de Cap Roig: Jardins de Cap Roig is een botanische tuin van zo'n 17 hectare, aangelegd op een klif tussen Calella de Palafrugell en Palamós en ligt op 5 minuten rij afstand of 35 minuten loopafstand van Callela de Palafrugell. De tuin werd in de 20e eeuw ontworpen door een Engels echtpaar dat hier een soort mediterraan paradijs wilde creëren. De tuinen werden vanaf 1927 aangelegd. Zij bouwden ook het kasteel Cap Roig in middeleeuwse stijl. Het project duurde tientallen jaren en werd pas rond 1975 voltooid. Er is een wandelpad dat langs de kust en de pijnbomen loopt met hele mooie uitzichtpunten over de zee. De tuinen zijn niet gratis een ticket kost 10,00 euro per volwassenen. 

6) Cap Roig Festival: Elk jaar tussen juli en augustus wordt hier een zomerfestival gehouden (dit jaar tussen 3 juli en 18 augustus 2026). Het festival duurt meestal 6 weken. Het is een mix van diverse stijlen, pop, rock, jazz en klassiek. Ook treden er soms bekende artiesten op. Dit jaar wordt het festival op 3 juli geopend door Bryan Adams en op 18 juli treedt Rick Astley op. De kaartverkoop begint al in het voorjaar en een ticket kost tussen de 35,00 en 200,00 euro. 

Highlights / tips Callela de Palafrugell 2026:

1) Callela de Palafrugell: Callela de Palafrugell is originally an old fishing village that has retained its traditional character. Unlike many other seaside resorts, it is not heavily commercialized, with few large hotels and mass tourism. The village is known for its white houses, narrow streets right by the sea, and small coves and beaches with clear water. It also has a charming promenade with arches (Port Bo), formerly used by fishermen. Callela de Palafrugell is a truly picturesque and authentic coastal village. Although it can be busy in the summer, it primarily attracts people seeking a quieter, authentic holiday destination. 

2) Port Bo (Old fishing district): Port Bo is the most characteristic and photogenic part of Calella de Palafrugell, where history, the sea, and a lively atmosphere come together in one place. It is small, has an atmospheric beach, and a small square by the sea where fishermen used to moor their boats and repair their nets. Nowadays, it is a cozy place with restaurants, terraces, and a very authentic atmosphere.

3) Punta dels Burricaires: Punta dels Burricaires is a rocky headland along the coast known for its beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and rugged nature. It is situated along the Camí de Ronda and is primarily a place to enjoy the scenery. This location is ideal for taking beautiful photos and videos.

4) Camí de Ronda: The Camí de Ronda is a network of walking paths along the rugged coastline of Catalonia. In the region around Calella, the path is particularly popular because it runs directly along cliffs, beaches, and coves. You also constantly see new views of the Mediterranean Sea and small, hidden coves that are normally less accessible. The most beautiful and most walked section runs between Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, and further towards Tamariu. Tip: wear good walking shoes and not flip-flops, bring water and possibly swimwear so you can spontaneously dive into a beautiful bay.

5) Jardins de Cap Roig: Jardins de Cap Roig is a botanical garden of approximately 17 hectares, situated on a cliff between Calella de Palafrugell and Palamós, and is a 5-minute drive or 35-minute walk from Calella de Palafrugell. The garden was designed in the 20th century by an English couple who wanted to create a kind of Mediterranean paradise here. The gardens were laid out starting in 1927. They also built the Cap Roig castle in a medieval style. The project took decades to complete and was not finished until around 1975. There is a walking path that runs along the coast and through the pine trees, offering beautiful viewpoints over the sea. The gardens are not free; a ticket costs €10.00 per adult. 

6) Cap Roig Festival: Every year between July and August, a summer festival is held here (this year between July 3 and August 18, 2026). The festival usually lasts 6 weeks. It is a mix of various styles: pop, rock, jazz, and classical. Sometimes, famous artists also perform. This year, the festival will be opened by Bryan Adams on July 3, and Rick Astley will perform on July 18. Ticket sales begin as early as spring, and a ticket costs between €35.00 and €200.00. 



Punta dels Burricaires is één van de mooiste uitzichten in Callela de Palafrugell. Het is een smalle rotsachtige landtong die de zee in steekt, tussen de stranden Port Pelegri en La Platgeta. 

Punta dels Burricaires is one of the most beautiful views in Callela de Palafrugell. It is a narrow rocky headland jutting out into the sea, between the beaches of Port Pelegri and La Platgeta.



Vanaf Punta dels Burricaires loopt er een pad richting La Platgeta. Dit is een kleine cala (baai) en bestaat uit grof zand en kleine kiezels. Het ligt beschut tussen de rotsen en bebouwing en direct onder de boulevard in het dorp (zie film).

From Punta dels Burricaires, a path leads towards La Platgeta. This is a small cala (bay) consisting of coarse sand and small pebbles. It lies sheltered between the rocks and buildings, and directly below the boulevard in the village (see film).



Rond La Platgeta zitten heel veel leuke restaurants en liggen letterlijk aan zee. Je kunt hier lekker eten met uitzicht op zee en zonsondergang.

There are many nice restaurants around La Platgeta, and they are literally right by the sea. You can enjoy a delicious meal here with a view of the sea and the sunset.





De baai Platja d'en Calau is één van de centrale stranden van Callela de Palafrugell. Het strand loopt over in Port Bo, dus het voelt als één geheel.

The bay Platja d'en Calau is one of the central beaches of Callela de Palafrugell. The beach merges into Port Bo, so it feels like one continuous area.





Er liggen veel boten bij Platja d'en Calau om een paar heel typische redenen die te maken hebben met de geschiedenis en de ligging van het dorp. Callela de Palafrugell was vroeger een actief vissersdorp.

There are many boats at Platja d'en Calau for a few very typical reasons related to the history and location of the village. Callela de Palafrugell used to be an active fishing village.





Vissers trokken hun boten gewoon het strand op. Die traditie zie je nog steeds terug. De boten horen dus echt bij het karakter van het dorp. In Callela de Palafrugell zelf is geen grote jachthaven. Daarom liggen kleine boten gewoon in de baai.

Fishermen simply pulled their boats onto the beach. You can still see that tradition reflected today. The boats are therefore truly part of the character of the village. There is no large marina in Callela de Palafrugell itself. That is why small boats simply lie in the bay.





Via Cala (of platja) del Port de Malaespina loopt een promenade naar Platja del Canadell / Els Canyissos. Het is één van de drie aaneengesloten strandjes in het centrum.

Aan de promenade bij Platja del Canadell / Els Canyissos zie je nog veel oude vissershuisjes met gekleurde deuren. De huisjes (vaak "cases de pescadors") lagen dus direct aan het strand. Elke familie had zijn eigen plek en kleur en waren makkelijk te herkennen vanaf zee (zie film).  

Along the promenade at Platja del Canadell / Els Canyissos, you can still see many old fishermen's cottages with colored doors. The cottages (often called "cases de pescadors") were situated directly on the beach. Each family had its own spot and color and were easy to recognize from the sea (see film).



Sommige panden zijn nog in handen van oude families maar zijn niet meer actief in de visserij. De huizen worden voornamelijk opgekocht door Barcelonezen of internationale kopers. De gekleurde deuren zijn bewust behouden omdat ze typisch zijn voor de Costa Brava identiteit en een belangrijk deel van het karakter van het dorp vormen.

Some properties are still in the hands of old families but are no longer active in the fishing industry. The houses are mainly being bought by Barcelonians or international buyers. The colored doors have been deliberately preserved because they are typical for the Costa Brava identity and form an important part of the village's character.
