Bezienswaardigheden / tips La Roche en Ardenne 2025:

1) La Roche-en-Ardenne: La Roche-en-Ardenne is een stad aan de oever van de Ourthe in de Belgische provincie Luxemburg. De plaats trekt in het zomerseizoen veel toeristen. Er zijn veel mogelijkheden om te sporten: mountainbiken, kanovaren over de Ourthe. Het ligt in een bosrijke omgeving en er is voldoende aanbod van hotels, restaurants en cafés.

2) Kasteel van La Roche-en-Ardenne: Het kasteel van La Roche-en-Ardenne ligt boven de stad in de bocht van de Ourthe. Het kasteel werd gebouwd tussen de elfde en veertiende eeuw op een plek die reeds vroeg bewoond was. Dit werd in de twintigste eeuw aangetoond door opgravingen van prehistorische en Romeinse voorwerpen. Iedere zomeravond is er een voorstelling waarin het spook Berthe met een bel op het middeleeuwse kasteel verschijnt; een lokale legende.

3) Musée de la Bataille des Ardennes: In het oorlogsmuseum van La Roche-en-Ardenne is te zien dat de stad tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog volledig werd platgebombardeerd. Ter nagedachtenis aan de Tweede Wereldoorlog staan er twee tanks: een Engelse 17pdr SP Achilles en een M4A1 Sherman. Het Musée de la Bataille des Ardennes herinnert aan de slag om de Ardennen. 

4) Saint-Nicolas kerk: De Sint-Nicolas kerk ligt gelegen in La Roche en Ardenne. De buitenkant van de kerk is prachtig om te zien aan de binnenkant is er niet heel veel te zien. Maar als je er bent is het zeker een bezoek waard.

1) La Roche-en-Ardenne: La Roche-en-Ardenne is a town on the banks of the Ourthe in the Belgian province of Luxembourg. The place attracts many tourists in the summer season. There are many opportunities for sports: mountain biking, canoeing on the Ourthe. It is located in a wooded area and there are many hotels, restaurants and cafes.

2) Castle of La Roche-en-Ardenne: The castle of La Roche-en-Ardenne is located above the city in the bend of the Ourthe. The castle was built between the eleventh and fourteenth centuries on a site that was already inhabited early. This was demonstrated in the twentieth century by excavations of prehistoric and Roman objects. Every summer evening there is a show in which the ghost Berthe appears with a bell on the medieval castle; a local legend. 

3) Musée de la Bataille des Ardennes: The war museum of La Roche-en-Ardenne shows that the city was completely bombed during the Second World War. In memory of the Second World War there are tow tanks. An English 17pdr SP Achilles and an M4A1 Sherman. The Musée de la Bataille des Ardennes commemorates the battle of the Ardennes. 

4) Saint-Nicolas Church: The Saint Nicholas Church is located in La Roche en Ardenne. The outside of the church is beautiful to see on the inside there is not much to see. But once you get there it is well worth a visit.

La Roche en Ardenne is ook de ideale uitvalsbasis voor mountainbiketochten of wandelingen door de Ardense natuur. Dankzij de ligging van het stadje aan de Ourthe is de plaats tevens erg in trek bij kajakkers en kanoërs.      

La Roche en Ardenne is also the ideal base for mountain bike rides or walks through the Ardennes nature.   Thanks to the town's location on the Ourthe, the place is also very popular with kayakers and canoeists.





Het kasteel van La Roche-en-Ardenne is een hoogteburcht en werd gebouwd op de ruïnes van een Keltisch oppidum.

The castle of La Roche-en-Ardenne is a high fortress and was built on the ruins of a Celtic oppidum.





Dit kasteel is hier in de elfde eeuw na Christus gebouwd en wordt nog steeds bewoond door de geest van Berthe van La Roche die hier in de middeleeuwen woonde (zie film). 

This castle was built here in the 11th century AD and is still inhabited by the ghost of Berthe de La Roche who lived here in the Middle Ages (see film).





                      Vanaf het kasteel heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de Saint-Nicolas kerk en wijde omgeving.

                             La Roche en Ardenne vormt ook het bruisende toeristische hart van de Ardennen.

La Roche ligt dichtbij Durbuy, Stavelot, Houffalize en Coo en is een prima uitvalbasis om de Ardennen te bezoeken (zie film).

La Roche en Ardenne heeft ook een prachtig stadspark, hier kun je heerlijk relaxen en genieten van de fonteinen.

In het stadspark vind je ook veel sculpturen en overige kunst. Vanaf het park heb je een mooi uitzicht op het kasteel.

     Er is ook voldoende aanbod van restaurants en cafés waar je heerlijk kunt relaxen na een inspannende dag.
